Joy>Stress

SO it's birthday time and I am STRESSED beyond stressed.

Stella turns ONE on March 5th! I am SO excited and a little in denial that my lil baby girl is turning one already.

She is an expert crawler.
Loves to feed herself.
Says words such as Mama, Papa, Baba, and jibergaggo.
She gives kisses and snuggly hugs.
She is learning to walk and getting better every day.
She loves to "run" through the corps building on her push walker, and man does she get places fast!
Her best friend is Samara (who is only about 2 1/2 weeks younger than her!).
She loves to play with other kids and tries to talk to them.
She looks adorable in EVERYTHING she wears.
She has 5 teeth, but only 2 are visible (the others are JUST thru the gums).
She loves to throw her hands up in the air when you say "Yay God!".
She is very ticklish.
Her newest thing is digging through bags and throwing the stuff everywhere.
She is a curious little kitten!

So after typing all that stuff about my beautlfuly blessed girl I am not as stressed.

Heres what I was stressed over:
What if I dont have enough money to throw the party?
What if there isn't enough food?
What if the kids who come don't behave/follow the rules of the blow ups?
What if the parents who come don't keep track of their kids and make them respect the rules?
What if I have to play "Mrs. Stacy" instead of "Stella's Mommy"
(I am a youth worker at The Salvation Army-I work with kids everyday :)
What if, because there are so many people coming, the attention gets taken away from Stellie?
What if a guest gets mad because I haven't showed them enough attention?

Here is the realization I have come to after praying and thinking about my daughter:
It is STELLA'S party.
The day is to celebrate HER birth and short lil life so far.
There is always going to be someone that is going to be upset.
If kid's don't respect the rules they can be asked to leave or sit down.
If they refuse to respect the rules again I can DEFLATE the blow ups (muhahahaha).
Stella won't remember a thing.
Most (hopefully all) of the people are going to be there to watch Stella SMASH a lil baby cake.
I don't have to throw a meal. The party is from 1-3.
Again, it's Stella's day. Not mine. Not my husbands. Not the guests.

So, after all that I realized that I was letting the stress of other people's future actions and attitudes take away the joy that I once had planning my child's 1st birthday. I should be excited and happy to celebrate her life, instead of worried and stressed about other people's expectations.

Matthew 6:27 NLT
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

Nope, they sure can't. One thing they can do is take away the Joy you had before the worry set in. I will not let this happen any longer.

1 Peter 5:7
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Yes, God even cares about the small minute things such as being stressed about 1st birthday parties. He wants us to be filled with His joy and gladness! SO tonight I am choosing Joy over Stress. And tomorrow, when I start to worry about the party again while we are shopping for a few decorations, I will again choose Joy over my worry and stress. I will choose to celebrate my beautiful, bright, blessed Stella Luna.

Happy Birthday! I love you! Merry Valentines Day!

So, my husband Matt and I celebrated my birthday and valentines today. I woke up being told that I was not allowed down stairs, that I had to stay upstairs until about 11:30. I knew he was taking me out to a nice lunch at 1 so I decided to take the time to sleep in and get ready for our date! Around 11:45 I heard him leave the house then preceded to get a text from him saying I could start. He had planned a scavenger hunt for me to find my gift. He always gets me just one gift to celebrate both birthday and Vday because they are so close. As I searched around the house I found all kinds of clever clues. The last clue read " You're awesome! Your gift is hiding in the living room Zelda style!" When I read this I knew exactly where it was...in the ottoman chest! I raced upstairs to find my dream camera-a canon Rebel t3i- all bowed up! As  I squealed with joy I soon realized that he charged the battery for me so I could start shooting right away! This is the rest of our vday bday date in pictures. He treated me to the Hunan House here in Columbus, and boy was it delicious! If you ever have a chance to go, DO IT!! Hope you enjoy!!

So that ladies and gents was my birthday vday date day and presents! I am SO blessed with a loving husband who thinks out of the box. I wouldn't trade him for the world!

He knows just how to treat his queen, so I KNOW he will know how to treat his lil princess! I'm so excited to see him as a daddy. <3

My (very near) Future Mommy Diaper Bag Wish list

SO, if you didn't know my husband Matt and I will expecting our first lil baby in March. It is a girl and we are naming her Stella Elaine Stacy. I am so excited and can't wait to meet the lil one who has turned my body into her own lil home!

Becoming a first time mom has made me think about all kinds of things. Tonight I am thinking about a wish list I would LOVE to have before lil Stella makes her debut!

THE Diaper Bag
Skip Hop Duo in Chevron

I am in love with this diaper bag! It has so many pockets, includes a stroller strap, and is not too girly ( so my husband won't mind carrying it ;). Also I am really digging the chevron print right now. Here are some more views....

I would also love to have the matching changing kit!

The next thing on my wish list is a list of things to fill my diaper bag with.

Breast-feeding Scarf
I am planning on making a breast-feeding scarf that will double as an infinity scarf and cover for when I feed Stella.
It will look something like this...maybe a different color.

Wetbags
These bags keep all the wetness in and stay dry on the outside! I'm imagining using these for soiled clothes, keeping blankets dry, or even throwing the sippie/bottle in to make sure the rest of the diaper bag contents stay dry. They also come in all kinds of cute designs!
These are pricey in store but are only a few bucks on Ebay!

Sanitizing Gel
I love the little ones from Bath and Body. They are so convenient to hook on the outside of the diaper bag for anyone who wants to hold Stella or for after changing her yucky diapers (when soap and water are not available). My favorite scents are the fresh or fruity ones (I dislike heavy or thick smells such as baked good smells, vanilla, or musk).

Baby First Aid Kit
The next thing I would love for my diaper bag is a baby first aid kit. This one is adorable and comes in a cute lil case to just pop into the bag!

Pacifier Wipes
They are gonna come in handy to wipe of Stella's binkies or other things she might possibly stick in her mouth!

Boogie Wipes
The next must have is a pack of these at all times....Boogie Wipes! I know how it feels when you wipe your nose too often, especially in the case that you have a cold! I certainty don't want my lil Stella's nose to become raw....and baby boogies get crusty, these will help get them off her lil precious nose!

Baby Toys
Of course we will need some baby toys. Here are some I thought were cute and functional.

Of course we would also have:
Diapers
Wipes
Binkies
Change of clothes

I would also carry the following for myself, since I will not be carrying a purse:

Cell Phone
Lipsyl Chap Stick
Keys
Wallet
Asprin
Hair Accessories (boby pins/ponytail holders)

What do you think of my list? What am I missing?? What did YOU find most helpful when you were packing a diaper bag?
